KARL ECKHARDT: OWNER

Karl Eckhardt got his start in the film business as a TechnoCrane technician. Having grown up as an off-road enthusiast, Karl’s experience with ATVs, dirt bikes, UTVs and Jeeps, led him to become mechanically inclined. This proved to be a vital asset as a crane technician when the cranes were fairly new to the industry. Now, with his knowledge, he works with Moviebird designers to make their cranes as efficient as possible. Karl’s experience in the industry helps him work with filmmakers to provide a great experience and achieve the best possible shot.

Karl has over 21 years experience in telescoping cranes. His father, Robert Eckhardt, went to film school in Munich, Germany, where he became a director / producer. Robert Eckhardt saw a huge market in Iran, where he directed 6 feature films. He also imported Kung Fu films from China and various American films to play in several movie theaters that he owned during the 1960's and early 70's.

MovieBird manufactures high-tech telescopic camera cranes for film and TV production. Modern and patented solutions make MovieBird one of the world’s leading manufacturers. A wide range of products allows MovieBird to customize their products to the client’s needs.

Peter Adamiec, the President of TechnoCrane Poland, was one of the three original inventors of telescopic camera crane in the early 80s. Since then Peter substantially improved TechnoCrane solution and the 30ft Super TechnoCrane, is the best such product on the market. MovieBird's Super TechnoCrane outperforms competing products in terms of stability, speed and control of movement. It is the only ST on the market with digital control available. It supports lenses up to 150mm.

Since the original TechnoCrane technology is 20 years old, from the 2006 our company MovieBird International researched new possibilities of the modern telescopic crane construction. The team lead by Peter Adamiec, together with Academy Award Winner Keith Edwards have patented the new, revolutionary belt transmission system. MovieBird 17 is the first product incorporating the new system.
